Welcome to the Otaku Collection haul for the month of June 2020. This update features 6 anime titles, 6 light novel volumes, 1 video game and 1 live-action Asian cinema title.
More delays affected this haul but I did receive a good amount thanks to the titles from my Birthday and a few other items!

#01 | RADIANT Season 1 Part 2
The first anime of the month is a delayed release from the May schedule, and it’s a Funimation replica from Manga Entertainment that I decided to pick up because it was actually available for a decent price point. RADIANT Season 1 Part 2 has less episodes than your usual amount as the show itself is 21 episodes long (the second season is also the same). I have yet to watch it but I have heard pretty good things about the series especially as it progresses.

#02 | Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 2
Next we finally have Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 2 which was also delayed by a month due to global issues. Anime Limited unfortunately did not provide a booklet and there wasn’t any explanation for that, but the box itself is nice at least.

#03 | The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1 Part 1
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1 Part 1 is a pretty nice release from Funimation and Manga Entertainment. It has enough content to make up for its price-point and the UK replica is actually a lot cheaper than the usual amount so that was a bonus. I’ve watched the series during simulcast and enjoyed it a lot. Part 2 was planned for June but had to be pushed back for July.

#04 | PROMARE
PROMARE is one of my favourite anime films in recent years because it hit the right point of being a fun entertaining and well balanced adventure to watch. I had the opportunity to watch the film at the local cinema last November and I still think it’s Trigger’s best work in a long while and I recommend it to anyone. This release is also pretty neat as it includes the original soundtrack on CD.

#05 | Monster Girl Doctor light novel 3
On the same day that PROMARE arrived the city centre was opening up their non-essential retail stores and I decided to check it out (with a mask of course). HMV didn’t have much to offer and CeX was full of queues, but I visited the local Sheffield Space Centre and I didn’t realise they had expanded the shelves to cover more manga and light novels. Fortunately for me there was something for me to grab at retail price which was Monster Girl Doctor light novel volume 3 because it was currently out of stock. There’s an anime adaptation airing this July so I wanted to at least own the novel in preparation.

#06 | 25th Birthday Haul
This year was my 25th Birthday and to celebrate I wanted to go for a variety of items. Unfortunately my budget is lower than previous years (because as you get older, you can’t get too much as a gift), but I was able to provide a workaround to have a good variety. Sadly the manga inclusion was omitted but I was able to get an anime, a video game, light novels and an Asian Cinema title.
For the discs, we have the 88 Films release of Armour of God II: Operation Condor directed by Jackie Chan. More Hong Kong goodness and while I have yet to watch this film, I am looking forward to checking it out. Next we have the MVM Entertainment collector’s edition release of Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. The funny thing is that I was going to consider the Aniplex release, but I decided to go for the UK release as it had the same physical content and the discs were pretty decent for Madman standards. And last but not least we have Judgment by SEGA for the PlayStation 4. Known as Judge Eyes in Japan, this is set in the same universe as the Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku) franchise and I am very happy to finally own the game.

It was pure coincidence that every light novel volume I chose for this haul ended up being Isekai titles. This time I wanted to actually continue the series that I started owning, so we have the second volumes for The Hero is Overpowered by Overly Cautious, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, and KONOSUBA: God’s Blessing in this Wonderful World! Also joining the light novel collection as well are the first volumes for Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I found out recently that both KONOSUBA and Slime are ending (as well as OVERLORD) so now is a good opportunity to try and catch up as soon as I can.
Other items I received include a ton of chocolate, a couple T-Shirts and a nice Red Bubble Re:ZERO T-Shirt.

#07 | Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Last but not least we have another anime arriving before the month was over, with Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199 from Manga Entertainment. This is a series that I was not expecting to receive a UK release given the show’s history of releases thanks to Voyager, but Manga released it at a solid price point and wanted to get it to show my support.

Additional Notes
And that concludes the month of June 2020. I didn’t sort out many new orders for this month but I was pretty happy with the items that both arrived and were acquired. My Birthday haul overall was good, and while it’s a shame manga titles couldn’t have been included, the rest of the choices were great.
In terms of new orders, we have Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer + Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Special Edition collection coming early August to wrap up the Gundam 00 Blu-ray collection. In addition we also have Magic Knight Rayearth Part 1 coming sometime in July if things go as planned. Part 2 has yet to be ordered but it depends on timing if I had to be honest.
For the Asian Cinema catalogue, we have Hanagatami from Third Window Films coming early July which I had pre-ordered months ago because I wanted to provide support to risky titles such as this film because it’s very long (over 3 hours length). If it does well, we could see more of the late Nobuhiko Ôbayashi’s works coming from TWF hopefully. Meanwhile I recently placed a pre-order for the upcoming Jackie Chan re-releases of Dragon Lord and The Fearless Hyena coming from 88 Films, both films are scheduled to be available in early August.
Currently on-target for a July release window is the entirety of Revolutionary Girl Utena from Anime Limited, which are Parts 1-3 plus the Nozomi Ent. Ultra Edition items from the very limited 80 unit bundle. Also scheduled is Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 1 which got delayed by a month, the complete first season of Black Clover and the second half of The Rising of the Shield Hero with the limited edition light novel book, the latter two of which are distributed by Manga Entertainment.
That’s all I have currently planned. I should make note that I will be officially moving out of my flat sometime late July to early August as my University degree comes to a conclusion at the end of Summer. I only have the dissertation project left to sort out which is scheduled for mid-September. In the worst case scenario I have secured a 2.1 (66% estimation) for my Masters of Science degree, but I am hoping to achieve a 1st (70%+).
