That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 (転生したらスライムだった件, Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken) is a 2021 television anime series based on Fuse’s light novel series of the same name. The adaptation is directed by Atsushi Nakayama and produced by studio 8-bit. Staff credits also include writer Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, and music composed by Elements Garden, both returning from the first season. The series first aired in Japan on January 2021 followed by its second cour in June 2021.

One of the tropes that isekai has been going for throughout the years are characters reincarnating as non-human creatures or objects, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is the first series I think of for that concept. I wasn’t too sure of the idea at first, but after watching the first season I ended up enjoying the characters and its direction. While the light novel has pretty much wrapped up or coming to a close, the anime was big enough to get a second season and a spin-off adaptation of The Slime Diaries. Now they just released an original theatrical film and a third season is in the works so Slime fans are in for a treat.
Much like the first season, Crunchyroll picked up the rights and was initially distributed by Funimation for home video but after the first part was released, the Crunchyroll brand eventually took over completely so the Funimation logo is no longer around for the second part. Surprisingly they released a limited edition and even brought it over to the UK.
Limited Edition Contents:
Crunchyroll managed to keep some form of consistency going for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, as Season 2’s limited edition appears with Part 2 of the series. Part 1 was released as a standard Blu-ray & DVD combo pack in North America and separate formats in the UK. I decided to stick with the UK version going forward, so there’s no slipcase this time but there’s no unique artwork so it’s not too bad.
The Part 2 limited-edition box set features a rigid box that houses a Amaray case as well as a 120-page artbook and a cardboard box featuring 8 art cards, a sticker and an Enamel Pin. Both the standard and limited edition share the same artwork. The booklet includes character designs, interviews and illustrations.
The artwork is free of any information and the info sheet covers the information and specification like previous Funimation limited edition releases.
The SRP for the limited-edition set was £84.99 (the North American release was $89.98), and there’s no exact unit count. I acquired the limited-edition release from Amazon UK as the price was cheaper than MVM’s Anime-on-Line and United Publications (£53.99). I picked up Part 1 alongside it as the price was pretty low too (£15.99).

The limited edition release for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2 contains episodes 13-24 (episodes 37-48) across two Blu-ray discs and two DVD discs, with the encode and authoring done by Crunchyroll’s US branch.
