My Hero Academia (僕のヒーローアカデミア, Boku no Hero Academia) is a 2016 television anime series based on the manga of the same name written by Kōhei Horikoshi. It was adapted by studio Bones and directed by Kenji Nagasaki, Tomo Ōkubo, and Masahiro Mukai. TOHO published the series and was first broadcast in Japan on April 2016 as part of the Spring season.
The show’s second season was first broadcast in Japan on April 2017.

“At UA Academy, not even a violent attack can disrupt their most prestigious event: the school sports festival. Renowned across Japan, this festival is an opportunity for aspiring heroes to showcase their abilities, both to the public and potential recruiters.
However, the path to glory is never easy, especially for Izuku Midoriya – whose quirk possesses great raw power but is also cripplingly inefficient. Pitted against his talented classmates, such as the fire and ice wielding Shouto Todoroki, Izuku must utilize his sharp wits and master his surroundings to achieve victory and prove to the world his worth.”

My Hero Academia continues to be one of the bigger anime franchises in recent years. With over four seasons and two films already made, the rollercoaster has not stopped. The manga, which is currently serialising in Weekly Shonen Jump with the likes of Black Clover, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece, still continues to excite the fans of the series. As I have mentioned before with my Season 1 and Two Heroes unboxing posts, the franchise is essentially Japan’s take on superheroes like ONE has done with One Punch Man.
That being said, My Hero Academia was licensed by Funimation for the US, Canada, UK & Ireland territories with the UK & Ireland having a rough start. The first season was first distributed by Universal Pictures before being rescued by Manga Entertainment, while the second season on the other hand was distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment with little success from my perspective. Both parts of the season did get released on Blu-ray and DVD but the lack of collector’s editions annoyed the UK community a fair bit. Eventually Manga Entertainment was able to release the rest of the franchise starting with a re-release of the first season and the first film Two Heroes onwards.
It was no secret as the BBFC leaked it but Manga Entertainment was able to rescue My Hero Academia Season 2 and release it as a complete season collection set. We won’t get the limited editions but the seasonal sets will have consistency on the shelf.

The standard edition release for My Hero Academia Season 2 contains all 25 episodes across four Blu-ray discs using the Funimation authoring. The audio options available include Japanese with English subtitles and the Funimation English dub. The white subtitles are unlockable during playback while the disc regions are locked to B for Blu-ray.
Now you may have noticed from the photos below, but much like Black Clover Season 1 collection, Manga Entertainment have re-used the disc artwork from the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases however the disc itself has the Manga logos and everything which is interesting. It’s possible that when Funimation acquired Manga Entertainment, the distributor re-authored the discs to include their logo while re-using the Sony Pictures packaging and artwork for the part sets at the time. As such, this may also mean that the DVD version might be NTSC rather than a straight up re-use of the Sony Pictures PAL discs.
