That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken) is a 2018 television anime series based on a light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The anime was adapted by studio 8bit and published by Kodansha. The series aired during the Autumn 2018 anime season in October.
“Champion of monsters Rimuru Tempest ends the orc war and earns the esteemed title as Slime Chancellor. As his blobbiness presides over a newfound nation, he’s got more work to do than give names and kick butt. The Moderate Harlequin Alliance is causing trouble, and the balance of power between Demon Lords is slippery at best. Protecting everyone will take a miracle, and some magicules, too.”Plot Synopsis via Funimation, February 2020
Another Isekai series and this one focuses on the main character reincarnating as a slime monster, and honestly the idea worked out better than I had anticipated. The series did well enough that a second season was greenlit and a spin-off manga was getting an adaptation.
Crunchyroll acquired the English speaking rights for the series and was released as part of the partnership with Funimation. Funimation provided a English simuldub and home video release for the series as a Blu-ray & DVD combo. As I went with the US version, this is because of the limited edition that Manga Entertainment did not bring over.
Limited Edition Contents:
Funimation’s limited editions generally present themselves as a rigid box with an amaray case and a couple of physical extras. For That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 1 Part 2, we have a rigid box that includes the second half’s standard edition with its slipcover, a 100-page artbook and a filler box.
Removing the filler box will allow folks to include their copy of Part 1, whether it’s the UK Blu-ray release or the US Blu-ray & DVD combo pack release. Inside the filler box are a couple of art cards, an acrylic keychain and a vinyl sticker.
Funimation does not disclose the unit allocation for their special editions but the SRP is $84.98.
