Amazon had recently discounted a number of Manga Entertainment titles and one of them was this recent release. It’s an Aniplex film and I can now finally check it out given the interesting buzz that it had received in the past year.
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas (Kimi no Suizō o Tabetai) is a 2018 theatrical anime film based on the novel of the same name written by Yoru Sumino. The adaptation was directed by Shin’ichirō Ushijima, animated by studio VOLN, and published by Aniplex.
Now despite the bizarre naming of the story, this is actually one of those coming-of-age sad stories in a similar vein to A Silent Voice which was given an anime film a few years ago. I won’t go into any spoilers because I have yet to watch it at the time of this post but I think it’s one best watched without knowing much of the plot. The novel source material has been picked up for English reading by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Aniplex of America acquired the English rights for the film, and has allowed Manga Entertainment to sub-license the film for the United Kingdom and Ireland territories. Manga brings the film over as a regular Blu-ray and DVD release which is perfectly fine by me.
Released in January 2020, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas from Manga Entertainment contains the film on a single Blu-ray disc using the Madman Entertainment author. The audio options available include the Bang Zoom English dub and the main Japanese audio with English subtitles. The white subtitles are unlockable during playback, and the region is locked to B.
You can order I Want to Eat Your Pancreas on Blu-ray and DVD on Amazon UK.
