Back in January 2018, I was able to acquire this fantasy series for a low price through Zavvi. Here’s an unboxing redux look at Anime Limited & Funimation UK’s now out of print release of Lord Marksman and Vanadis.
Lord Marksman and Vanadis (Madan no Ou to Vanadis) is a 2014 television anime series from studio Satelight, published by Kadokawa Pictures and directed by Tatsuo Satou. The anime is based on the light novel series of the same name written by Tsukasa Kawaguchi.
So admittedly I still have yet to watch this series at the time of this write-up but I have been told that it’s not that great of an adaptation so I’m curious to check the series even more. The manga has been localised in English but the original novels have yet to be picked up.
Lord Marksman and Vanadis was acquired as part of a mini-Kadokawa haul from Funimation that also included Noein, Riddle Story of Devil (which never got released) and Tokyo ESP. Before the UK & Ireland license had expired, Anime Limited offered a really nice collector’s edition set for the whole series. Funimation also released the series in limited edition form. While the license is technically filed under Funimation UK, the packaging is with Anime Limited so you could argue it’s more of an Anime Limited title than Funimation UK.
Lord Marksman and Vanadis from Anime Limited contains episodes 1-13 across 2 Blu-ray discs using the Funimation master in this collector’s edition set. The audio options include both the Funimation English dub and the original Japanese with English subtitles. The disc is region locked to B and the white subtitles are locked during playback.
The collectorās edition Blu-ray is out of print, but the Region A Funimation release is available to order through Amazon US.
