Assassination Classroom Season 2 Parts 1 & 2 (Collector’s Edition Blu-ray) Unboxing

I attended MCM Comic Con Birmingham and acquired a couple anime titles! For this unboxing I have both parts for the second season of Assassination Classroom in their first print aka collector’s edition sets.

Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu) Season 2 is a 2016 anime based on the manga series written by Yuusei Matsui which also appeared on Weekly Shonen Jump. The anime was adapted by studio Lerche and published by Fuji Creative Corporation. As mentioned, this is the second season to the 2015 anime also handled by the same studio. The second season adapts the remaining chapters of the manga series following the previous anime.

Both seasons have been released in the UK by Anime Limited, however the actual distributor for the series is actually Funimation, under the Funimation UK brand. This brand was short-lived given recent events but Anime Limited did provide an added extra for the UK market in contrast to the US release. For Part 1, it comes with a rigid box to house both parts which wasn’t included in the US release. For Part 2, it comes with a booklet (also never used in the US release) featuring some artwork to accompany the box and Blu-ray sets for the series.

Worth pointing out that the Blu-ray master is not in the best condition due to poor authoring from Funimation’s end, as the video quality is not in the correct presentation (so when you compare and contrast with the Japanese Blu-rays or Funimation stream you can see the difference).

Both parts share similar specifications. The audio options available include the English dub and original Japanese audio with English subtitles. The white subtitles are locked during playback and the discs are compatible with regions A & B. Each part features 2 Blu-ray discs; the first part covers episodes 1-13 and the second part covers episodes 14-25.

It’s time for second term, and the assassination classroom is ready for a semester filled with intense training, studying, and new ways to kill their teacher. But even their most creative plans are falling flatter than a two-ton pudding. That is, until a powerful student decides to come back to class! Koro Sensei’s days may finally be numbered.

As their skills grow, so does their confidence. But will this lead to a successful assassination or reckless missteps that land them in trouble? They’ll have to keep their attitudes in check because a dangerous lesson with the Reaper awaits them. Not to mention clashing against A Class in another harsh round of midterms!

Through it all, they’ll have to face a question more challenging than only final exam – do they save the world or save the world’s greatest teacher?
