The Dangers in My Heart (僕の心のヤバイやつ, Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is a 2023 television anime series based on Norio Sakurai’s manga series of the same name. The television series was directed by Hiroaki Akagi and produced by studio Shin-Ei Animation. Staff credits also include series composition writer Jukki Hanada, character designer Masato Katsumata and music composed by kensuke ushio. The series first aired in Japan in April 2023.
Background:
“Kyotaro Ichikawa occupies the lowest rung on his school’s social ladder. The self-described lone wolf fancies he’s one bad day away from a meltdown, and this wannabe troubled teen daydreams of ways to disrupt class and shatter his peers’ peaceful school lives… but even this bad egg feels his heart skip a beat around Anna Yamada, his gorgeous classmate who’s as goofy as Kyotaro is gloomy!
Turns out Anna and Kyotaro are two oddball peas in a pod, and neither of them are who they appear to be at first glance. As facades fade and their true selves emerge, will Kyotaro and Anna defy their expectations of each other – and of themselves?”

The Dangers in My Heart is an anime that has intrigued me since it first aired. The series starts off one way and opens up to what essentially becomes a romance slice of life series and it’s done well enough to receive two more seasons (the third season was just announced recently) and a theatrical compilation film. It’s on my list as one of my most anticipated to watch in my backlog since I wasn’t able to watch it during simulcast.
US distributor Sentai Filmworks picked up the rights when it first aired in Spring 2023, that same season where many had the chance to watch more Demon Slayer, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, Hell’s Paradise, Oshi no Ko and more isekai. So the series was exclusive to HIDIVE which I didn’t have an account for due to focusing on the anime that’s on Crunchyroll plus HIDIVE tends to not have enough offerings to warrant a sub.
UK distributor Anime Limited officially announced their acquisition for the first two seasons of The Dangers in My Heart during MCM London Comic Con in May 2025, with plans for collector’s editions for each one. The first season took a delay due to authoring issues spotted after people got their copies which was pretty daft but it’s now here.
Collector’s Edition Contents:

The Dangers in My Heart has been available in North America for a while and eventually Sentai Filmworks re-released the first season in a steelbook format that came included with a booklet. Since Anime Limited acquired the UK rights rather late, we got another lucky collector’s edition release. Whether the second season will get similar treatment is not clear though.
The collector’s edition release is presented with a rigid box, an Scanavo case housing the discs and the A3 fold-out poster, and a 40-page booklet. The booklet features character designs, interviews with the Japanese staff, and a couple bonus manga pages. All of the material here are also included in the Sentai Filmworks Steelbook release (Sentai’s booklet is 48 pages due to the episode guides).

The rigid box artwork is free of any information or BBFC content and the info sheet covers the information and specification like previous Anime Limited releases. The collector’s edition Blu-ray has an unspecified number of units printed for an SRP of £69.99, with a standard edition Blu-ray available for retailers at an SRP of £39.99.
I pre-ordered the series last November as part of Anime Limited’s early bird offer for £39.99 plus postage thanks to the 10% discount for using Anime Unlimited. The set was originally scheduled for release in January but was postponed to March due to an authoring issue (the menus were referencing Season 2 instead, which Anime Limited also has the UK home video rights for).
