Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV (ダンジョンに出会いを求めるのは間違っているだろうか IV 新章 迷宮篇 / 深章 厄災篇, Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darō ka IV Shinshō Meikyū-hen / Shinshō Yakusai-hen), also known as DanMachi IV: Labyrinth & Calamity Arcs, is a 2022-23 television anime series based on Fujino Ōmori’s light novel series of the same name with illustrator Suzuhito Yasuda. The television series was directed by Hideki Tachibana and produced by studio J.C.Staff. Staff credits also include series composition writer Hideki Shirane with author Fujino Ōmori, character designer Shigeki Kimoto and music composed by Keiji Inai. The fourth season first aired in Japan across a two-cour model, starting from July 2022 followed by its second cour in January 2023.

Plot Synopsis via Sentai Filmworks, December 2025.
It’s been a decade since Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, or DanMachi in short, aired its first season and a lot has happened since. The series continued to grow in popularity, which was pretty impressive for a non-isekai fantasy series considering the genre was dominated by the isekai concept over the past decade, and the light novels are still on-going with over 20 volumes at the time of this write-up. J.C. Staff have done a pretty good job with the anime and there’s enough content to see probably ten seasons worth at the pace we’re going.
I’ve only watched the first three seasons of the anime but I’ve enjoyed Bell and Hestia’s journey encountering other Familia members, growing their team and exploring more of the dungeon which just seems to never end. The anime has reached five seasons, a couple OVAs and a theatrical film so far, with a sixth season greenlit. DanMachi IV is also the first in the franchise to cover more than a single-cours worth of content as the next arc adapts the 12th-14th light novel volumes of the story.
Sentai Filmworks acquired the streaming & home video rights for DanMachi IV in May 2022 and unlike the previous seasons which were available on Crunchyroll, the series simulcasted exclusively on HIDIVE aka the platform that is primarily focused on Sentai’s titles. Because I didn’t have a HIDIVE subscription and their library was fairly limited I decided not to watch the season when it first aired, instead opting to hold out for the home video release instead. Sentai released the series across two parts in November 2023 & January 2024 in standard Blu-rays, before eventually producing their limited premium edition model almost two years later.
Limited Edition Contents:

In a weird move Sentai Filmworks decided to delay their premium editions to years after the series makes its way onto home video so it’s hard to determine which anime will get the treatment. They do make mentions here and there but sometimes it ends up being a steelbook edition instead. Because DanMachi is thankfully still popular, Sentai kept the consistency going with the big box sets.
The limited premium edition release is presented with a rigid collector’s box which is DVD-sized for size comparison. Inside the box we have a DVD case housing the discs, a hardcover 120-page book, an 184-page Original Novels book, a shadow box, four double-sided art cards and a uniquely numbered authenticity card. The hardcover book features episode guides, character information & designs, background artwork, monster & item designs from the Japanese Blu-ray releases. The Original Novels book features two stories split into two-parts; ‘Mini Adventure Diary’ and ‘An Elf’s Branch of History’, translated by Alethea & Athena Nibley with head translator Ian Fagen. Overall the packaging is a massive improvement from the third season’s limited edition release.

The rigid box artwork features the information on the back cover, and the same applies to the DVD case as well. The limited premium edition Blu-ray has an unspecified number of units printed for an SRP of $199.99, with a standard edition two-part Blu-rays available for retailers at an SRP of $69.99 each.
I acquired this edition from Amazon US as they reduced the price to a reasonable level ($95.62), considering it just got released a few months ago, alongside That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Part 2 which I sent to Stackry so that I could consolidate it with another package and have them all shipped together to the UK. If the stock sticks around you may get lucky and order it for less during Sentai’s sale but it solely depends on how many units they have in stock.
