That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 1 Part 1 (Blu-ray) Unboxing

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (転生したらスライムだった件, Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken) is a 2018 television anime series based on a light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The anime was adapted by studio 8bit and published by Kodansha. The series aired during the Autumn 2018 anime season in October.

Background:

“He’s oozing with power! – Ordinary 37-year-old Satoru Mikami dies and is reincarnated as the most unremarkable creature imaginable – a slime. Initially, things are pretty grim. He’s blind, deaf, and weak. But by combining his special abilities with some good old-fashioned charisma, the newly-named, Rimuru Tempest, will use his blobby powers to create a nation, destroy the malicious, and convince the world that maybe monsters aren’t so bad after all.”

Another Isekai series and this one focuses on the main character reincarnating as a slime monster, and honestly the idea worked out better than I had anticipated. The series did well enough that a second season was greenlit and a spin-off manga was getting an adaptation.

Crunchyroll acquired the English-speaking rights for the series and as part of their now-defunct partnership with Funimation, has the latter release the series with an English dub during broadcast and a home video release. The show was released on Blu-ray & DVD for the US & Canada as well as UK & Ireland through Manga Entertainment on behalf of Funimation.

So far only the first season has been confirmed and due to bad timing, Manga Entertainment won’t be releasing the US limited edition that comes with Part 2 to the UK. I did eventually go for the US limited edition set for Part 2.
