The first day of Anime Limited’s 12 Days of Christmas sale was decided to Funimation UK’s clearance sale due to licensing stuff. As I ordered mine pretty quickly they arrived today. The fourth title is one of Funimation’s regular releases under the UK brand.
Yurikuma Arashi is a 2015 television anime original series from director Kunihiko Ikuhara. The anime was animated by studio Silver Link and published by Kadokawa Pictures. The series aired during the Winter 2015 season in January.
Yurikuma Arashi is also another one of those shows that had a fair amount of reception and I never had the chance to watch it when it aired a few years ago. Its director is very well-known for his works with Revolutionary Girl Utena, Mawaru Penguindrum and most recently with Sarazanmai. Funimation acquired the rights for the US, Canada, UK and Ireland territories with an English dub and home video release as per usual. Anime Limited, on behalf of Funimation, brought the series over to the UK as a regular Blu-ray & DVD combo pack.
Released in October 2016, Yurikuma Arashi from Funimation UK contains the entire series (12 episodes total) across two Blu-ray discs and two DVD discs using the Funimation master. The audio options available include the Funimation English dub and the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. The white subtitles are locked during playback on the Blu-ray discs, and the Blu-ray discs are compatible with Regions A & B Blu-ray players while the DVD discs are also compatible with Regions 1, 2 & 4 DVD players. The DVD discs are in NTSC format.
The UK release for Yurikuma Arashi is no longer available, as Funimation discontinued its partnership with Anime Limited in favour of Manga Entertainment. The US release is still available and compatible with Region B Blu-ray players only in the form of an Essentials release.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited & Funimation UK):
“In a world divided between humans and hyper-intelligent, man-eating bears, Kureha attends an all-girls school and holds onto a simple wish—to spend the rest of her life with her classmate and soul mate, Sumika. But after a secret rendezvous ends in tragedy, Kureha vows to never back down on her love and put a bullet in any bear she meets.
As she plots her revenge, the bear-attack body count begins to rise and two strange girls transfer into Kureha’s class. She doesn’t know it yet, but the girls who call themselves Ginko and Lulu are actually criminal bears in disguise! As they try to win Kureha’s heart , an army of high school girls gears up to go to war with all of bear-kind and anyone else who stands up for love. At this rate, getting the yuri seal of approval from an interdimensional tribunal of cool, beautiful, sexy judges is going to be the least of their troubles.”
