Nisekoi: False Love Season 2 Parts 1 & 2 (Blu-ray) Unboxing

I attended MCM Comic Con Birmingham and acquired a couple anime titles! For this unboxing I picked up the UK KAZE versions of the second season of Nisekoi.

Nisekoi: False Love (Nisekoi:) is a 2015 anime based on the manga series written by Naoshi Komi which also appeared on Weekly Shonen Jump. The anime was adapted by studio SHAFT and published by Aniplex. As mentioned, this is the second season to the 2014 anime also handled by the same studio. The second season adapts a couple more chapters of the manga series following the previous anime.

I watched the first season of Nisekoi during its broadcast and rather enjoyed it. It’s a romance harem series with the SHAFT style mixed into the anime. The manga itself also has a following and eventually it reached a conclusion. The anime’s second season is notably not well received as the previous anime. The source material did receive a couple anime OVA episodes however those remain exclusive to Japan.

Aniplex of America acquired the rights for the west and released it on Blu-ray across a number of volumes (4 for Season 1, and 2 for Season 2). However, at the time of this post those volumes have gone out of print and in the UK they were acquired by KAZE (aka Viz Media Europe). KAZE released the show across two volumes per season at a decent price point. While KAZE’s track record has been a train-wreck, Nisekoi luckily is one of the few that has little to no issues overall. The UK release also comes with some postcards for those who like the artwork. Manga Entertainment distributes the KAZE titles on their behalf.

Both parts share similar specifications. The audio options available include the original Japanese audio with English and French subtitles. The white subtitles are locked during playback and the discs are compatible with regions B only. Each part features a single Blu-ray disc; the first part covers episodes 1-6 and the second part covers episodes 7-12.
