I attended MCM Comic Con Birmingham and acquired a couple anime titles! For this unboxing I managed to acquire the Shop Exclusive variant for Kiznaiver aka the Collector’s Edition set that comes with a larger hardcover artbook!
Kiznaiver is a 2016 original anime series from director Hiroshi Kobayashi and writer Mari Okada. The anime was made by studio TRIGGER and published by ABC Animation.
This series gained a rather divided reception among the anime community and while I didn’t watch it prior to purchasing the set I was still curious to check it out for its artstyle and concept. In terms of licensing the anime was acquired by Crunchyroll, but sub-licensed the series in the US to Aniplex of America while in the UK it went to Anime Limited.
Despite Anime Limited having some licensing issues with regards to Crunchyroll titles, Kiznaiver was fortunately not affected and as such we got a nice and cheaper release in contrast to the US version. If you order through Shop AllTheAnime you can get an extra item which is a hardcover 116-page artbook only available to the first 500 units.
The Blu-ray release from Anime Limited covers all 12 episodes across 2 Blu-ray discs. The audio options available include an English dub produced by Crunchyroll, a French dub and the original Japanese audio with English and French subtitles. The white subtitles are locked during playback and the discs are compatible with regions B only. This release was authored by French Anime Limited aka @Anime.
