Napping Princess (Collector’s Edition Blu-ray & DVD) Unboxing

It’s been a while since Napping Princess was released in the UK and now finally it went on sale for a pretty good price.

Napping Princess (Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari) is an original theatrical anime film directed by Kenji Kamiyama from studio Signal.MD and publisher Warner Bros Japan.

The film was released in Japanese theaters on March 2017 and was one of the few recent anime films to be released in UK theatrical screens during 2017 by Anime Limited. Anime Limited have the UK, Ireland & French rights to the film, while GKIDS has the United States & Canadian rights. The English dub was produced by NYAV Post.

The UK Collector’s Edition release offers the film on both Blu-ray and DVD across a disc each. The film is available in English and Japanese audio with both English and English Hard of Hearing subtitles. The Blu-ray is region locked to B and the DVD is region locked to 2 in NTSC format. Also included with the release is a 40-page booklet with a ton of artwork and designs for the film.

The discs for both Blu-ray and DVD were authored by GKIDS this time around. The UK release was initially going to use the masters from @Anime (French version of Anime Limited), however select extra features would be missing so after fan demand they opted for the US masters instead.

Plot Synopsis (via Anime Limited):

“Kokone should be diligently studying for her university entrance exams, but she just can’t seem to stay awake. Aside from stealing precious study time, her napping is even more distracting, as it brings on strange dreams with warring machines that hint at family secrets that have been dormant for years.

She can’t ask her father, a hipster mechanic more talented and artful than his job requires, as he’s always busy modifying motorcycles and cars in flights of fancy. What are these visions that lead Kokone at once closer to and farther away from her family?”
